Children’s Workshop

Sustainable Fashion Workshop for Children

Celene Venosa developed and led this sewing workshop, introducing children to textile design through play, experimentation and hands-on activities. She selected the patterns and practical exercises, taught participants how to use sewing tools and a sewing machine, and guided them through basic stitches, measuring and working with simple patterns. The programm also introduced upcycling and ways to transform existing garments.

Each child then chose their own project. Some redesigned T-shirts, others made bags or skirts, while others transformed old garments into something new. Working with fabrics, colours and reclaimed materials of their choice, the children learned how to make something individual from what was available.

Alongside learning practical skills, the workshop encouraged confidence, curiosity and independent thinking. It was important to Celene that each child felt comfortable experimenting with their own ideas, making decisions and discovering what they could achieve with the skills they had learned.
