In Cadaqués, Celene was surrounded by a family of artists and an international community of painters, writers, musicians and free thinkers. The village’s dramatic landscape, rich artistic history and connection to Salvador Dalí made creativity a natural part of everyday life. For much of her childhood, she lived with her father, Robert Venosa, and Martina Hoffmann, first in Cadaqués and later in Boulder, Colorado, where she encountered another vibrant creative community. At the age of sixteen, she moved to Vienna to live with her mother, Jutta Venosa.
Surrounded by painting, sewing and craftsmanship from an early age, she developed a fascination with drawing, color, textiles and making things by hand. Growing up in an artistic household also taught her to appreciate the value of materials, recognize possibilities in what was already at hand and find inventive ways to bring ideas to life. Drawing and writing also helped her express herself and adapt to unfamiliar surroundings, particularly during periods of change. These early influences nurtured her curiosity and encouraged her to explore a variety of materials and creative disciplines.
A year after moving to Vienna, Celene began studying fashion design at the Fashion Institute Hetzendorf, where she developed her creative and technical skills through illustration, figurative and life drawing, garment construction and experimentation with a wide range of materials. She also received private instruction from artist Amanda Sage in the Old Masters’ Mischtechnik, a layered painting technique, expanding her understanding of traditional painting processes. These experiences strengthened her understanding of traditional techniques and the importance of patience, practice and attention to detail.
After completing her fashion education, Celene moved to New York, where she began working in the fashion industry, gaining practical experience in design, production and the development of collections. Three years later, she returned to Vienna, where she became a mother and continued pursuing her creative interests while raising her daughter. During this period, she increasingly turned towards graphic design and digital media, acquiring new skills and applying her artistic background to different forms of visual communication.
Her work at the Fantastic Realism Museum in Vienna included assisting with the planning and organisation of exhibitions, developing publications and promotional materials, and contributing to the presentation of fantastic and visionary art. During this time, she also had the opportunity to assist Professor Ernst Fuchs.
Alongside her museum work, Celene was involved in other artistic and cultural initiatives. She supported the founders of the Visionary Art Academy Vienna (VAVA) in establishing their association and seeking sponsorship for the academy’s opening. She also collaborated with the kokemoos association on various cultural projects, contributing to their creative development and organisation.
Over the years, Celene continued to expand her knowledge through training in graphic and web design, content management systems (CMS), international project management and marketing. She developed proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite and other digital tools, applying these skills across fashion, design, content management and cultural project coordination.
Her interests extend beyond individual artistic disciplines, influenced by personal experiences, nature, cultural exchange and everyday life. She values resourcefulness, thoughtful design and practical, inventive solutions, and remains interested in discovering new ways of working across different creative fields.
